New Adventures

Well hello there, long time no see. I last posted to this blog on April 15th, but if you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (mlardie) you know that I certainly haven’t just been sitting around.

I've still been cooking up a storm. This "Wrightsville Beach Scampi" was a particularly delicious creation.

I found some time to shoot down to Chef & the Farmer for an intimate dinner with Vivian Howard in celebration of her upcoming cookbook, "Deep Run Roots."

I carved out a little relaxation time with the latest issue of Jarry Mag. One of my fav bloggers, Nik Sharma, is the cover guy!

So why the absence here? To cut right to the chase, we’re in the process of starting not one, but two new businesses. Yup. Two. (Please send all psychiatric referrals to matt@eatwritego.com).

The first will be officially unveiled later this summer and has a little to do with that bus we’re converting and a lot to do with our desire to travel, learn, and tell stories.

The second is the more pressing and concrete of the two businesses and comes down to one word – wine. We are hoping to start a wine importing business, something that I have wanted to do for years. Over the last few months the pieces have fallen into place and we’ve made some strategic connections that led us to bite the bullet and go for it.

Our focus will be on Croatia, one of the most exciting wine regions in the world right now. With a storied tradition of winemaking, Croatia is only now just beginning to get the attention it deserves. As the country continues to recover from the Balkan War, families with generations of winemaking experience are repairing and reestablishing ancient vineyards across the country and putting out world class wine.

One of the wineries we will visit is Rota, in Trpanj. They make a delicious Rose called Bona Parte which currently is unavailable in the US!

So there you have it. Blogging has taken a back seat to learning how to start these businesses, as it should. But I plan on picking back up here at Eat, Write, Go starting next week…when we head to Croatia for two weeks! We’ll be exploring wineries across the country, hopefully making some good memories and even greater connections. I’ll have some posts on the food and culture up on this blog, but to truly keep up day-to-day make sure to follow me on Instagram (@eatwritego) and Snapchat (@mlardie).
