I love a clean, well-organized kitchen as much as the next person, but in practice a Pinterest-ready kitchen is more a pipe dream than a reality in my world. With a hectic, fluid schedule its often all I can do to just get a load of dishes washed (we don’t have a dishwasher) and don’t even ask about those leftovers in the back of my fridge.
Luckily for me, and those like me, its time for The Kitchn’s annual Kitchn Cure. I stumbled across this wonderful four-week program thanks to my friend Olga, and I’m already loving the results after Week One. I tackled one of my biggest problem areas (my fridge), expanded my counter space, and weeded out my insane collection of condiments. Take a look:
You’ll notice one of the items on my list was the lack of prep space – my kitchen is essentially a large square with a lot of unused space in the middle. While prepping meals I often find myself tucked away in a corner, scrunched over a dining room table I’ve repurposed for extra counter space. As part of the Kitchn Cure I was determined to fix this problem, and after a little online shopping my brand new, stainless-steel prep table arrived!
Check back soon to see how I fared on Week Two of the Kitchn Cure – this week they want me to go through my appliances and bakeware and thin the herd, things could get ugly.
You can sign up for the Kitchen Cure too – Kitchn Cure 2014.
